Cultural.am web page informs that the poetry collection “Letters on the Stone” had been published in Armenian and Russian. The collection involves the poetry of 22 Armenian poets and 22 poets from all over the world that write in Russian. The book also involves the writings of those contemporary poets that live next to us and new translations of those poets who have left their own trajectories in the Armenian poetry (e.g. Paruyr Sevak, Hamo Sahyan, Hovhannes Grigoryan, Slavik Chiloyan).
The book was created as a result of bilateral activities between the Russian and Armenian sides. The poets Victoria Cembarceva, Yelena Shuvaeva-Petrosyan, Gevorg Gilants and the director of “Hrant Matevossian” Cultural Benevolent Foundation, Davit Matevossian. In the introduction of the book, poet Victoria Cembarceva has written: “And later should come the idea to call this collection “Letters on the Stone” as Armenia is a country of stones. As from the stones of the ruined empire we continue to build bridges to the lost shores. And the stone of a poet is the letter, word, language”. The book was published in Russian Federation and as Davit Matevossian says that will make it easier to spread the book among Russian speakers. “The language should not keep silent, the language should get fictional, and to become something that will be able to chat freely and to get a meaning with other languages”, - Hrant Matevossian has written once. Multilingual collections talk in few languages simultaneously.
